Who we are
PayCall is an AI voice coach for practicing salary negotiations and raise conversations, operated by PayCall, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“PayCall”, “we”). This policy explains what we collect when you use PayCall’s website and practice app, why, and how you can control it.
The short version
- Your audio is processed in real time to create a text transcript and is not stored.
- We do not create voiceprints, identify speakers or clone voices.
- We keep the text transcript and your debrief so you can see them, until you delete them.
- We never sell or share your transcripts, and we don’t let third parties use them to train their models where the vendor lets us switch that off.
- Your employer never learns that you practiced.
- You can delete single practice rounds or your whole account at any time.
What we collect
- Account data: email address, name (if you give one), sign-in method (email/password, Google or Apple), and whether your email is verified.
- Practice setup: scenario, job title, US state, years of experience, salary numbers you enter (offer, current salary, target), leverage you select, company size, counterpart and difficulty.
- Practice calls: the text transcript of each call (what you said, as transcribed, and what the AI counterpart said), timings, and the negotiation state our system extracts from each turn.
- Debriefs: scores, mistakes with quotes from your own words, your script and email.
- Payments: Stripe processes your payment. We receive the pass you bought, the amount, and Stripe identifiers. We never see or store your full card number.
- Usage and funnel events: which pages and steps you used (for example “setup completed”), with an anonymous random visitor ID stored in your browser’s local storage, and the campaign parameters of the link you arrived from. We don’t store salaries, transcripts or emails in these events.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
Audio and voice
While you hold the talk button, your microphone audio is sent to our speech-to-text provider to create a text transcript, and the counterpart’s answer is turned into speech by our text-to-speech provider. PayCall does not store your audio. We do not create voiceprints or any other biometric identifiers, we do not identify speakers, and we do not clone your voice. If you choose to type instead, no audio is processed at all.
How we use your data
- To run your practice calls, generate your debrief, script and email, and show your history and progress.
- To manage your account, passes, minutes and refunds.
- To keep costs and abuse under control (rate limits, one free round per account).
- To improve PayCall using the practice statistics described below.
- To send transactional emails (receipts, your debrief link) and, if you don’t opt out, short follow-up emails asking how your real negotiation went.
PayCall negotiation data
We keep two separate datasets and never mix them:
Practice records are created automatically from every practice round: scenario, occupation code, state, experience bracket, company size, the salary numbers from your setup, the first number you named, the number agreed in the simulation, the counterpart and difficulty, your scores and how many rounds you practiced before. We use them to improve the product and for practice statistics.
Outcome records are created only if you fill in the outcome form after your real negotiation: what happened, the real numbers, non-salary gains, timing and channel. An employer name is optional, never published and never used in statistics. Outcome records are self-reported and not verified.
On the outcome form there are two separate, unticked checkboxes: (a) “Use my anonymized result in PayCall salary statistics” and (b) “Use my result as an anonymous testimonial”. Neither is required. We store your choice with a timestamp and the version of the consent text. You can withdraw consent in your dashboard at any time; the record is then excluded from future statistics.
We only ever publish aggregates — medians and ranges — never single records, and only when at least 20 consented records exist for a group (for example an occupation and state); otherwise we combine groups. We always show how many records a number is based on, the date range, and that the data is self-reported by PayCall users.
If you delete your account, your raw records are deleted. Aggregates that were already published are not recalculated retroactively.
Service providers
We use these kinds of providers to run PayCall. They process data only on our behalf:
- Speech-to-text and text-to-speech (OpenAI, ElevenLabs).
- AI language models for the counterpart, coach hints and debriefs (Anthropic, Google, OpenAI).
- Payments (Stripe).
- Email delivery (our email provider).
- Hosting, database and content delivery.
- Analytics (Google Analytics, only with your consent).
- Ad measurement (Google Ads, Reddit), only while we run ad campaigns and only with your analytics consent: after a purchase, the ad platform learns that a purchase happened, its value and a transaction ID — never your salary, transcript or email address.
Retention and deletion
Transcripts, debriefs and practice records are kept until you delete the practice round or your account. You can delete a single round in your dashboard; this removes its transcript and debrief. If you delete your free round, we keep a minimal marker that the free round was used.
When you delete your account, we schedule it for deletion and remove your account and all related practice data within 30 days. Payment records required by tax and accounting law are kept for as long as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can access your practice history in your dashboard, delete rounds or your account, opt out of follow-up emails with the link in each email, and change your cookie choice at any time (“Cookie settings” in the footer). Depending on the US state you live in, you may have additional rights such as access, correction and deletion; email us to use them. We do not sell personal information. Ad measurement (see “Service providers”) only runs with your consent, and you can turn it off with the cookie settings.
Age
PayCall is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account.
Changes
We will update the date above when this policy changes and tell you by email about material changes.
